Oscars 2012 Nominations Special (Lead Actor - Female)

So now we come to the last 3 categories, this one is of course about Best Actress in a Lead Role. I am just going to give my view on the race and my early predictions.

Best Actor in a Lead Role Female:

Yes i wont say i am truly satisfied by the Academy choices this time, an actress category is always strong but this time it just isn't. I understand the lack of good movies and i understand the lack of truly great performances but then there were many but got snubbed. Before i write anything else, i haven't seen My Week with Marilyn yet so yeah just wanted to let you people now.

1. Michelle Williams - My Week with Marilyn
Oh well lucky Williams to have got the chance to play such an iconic, well known and truly glamorous part and for its worth critics loved her. In fact according to the precursor score, she as of this moment have won the most awards this year with 11. She may pull an upset but that is a very rare thing so its save to say after the 2 frontrunners, she is the only deserving actress on the list.

2. Glenn Close - Albert Nobbs
Glenn Close, the victim of the bad buzz and critics reviews and a very poorly made movie. She gives a good performance if not great but is overshadowed by very badly written script and poor direction. She got the nomination like many others in any category for some particular reason, that is out of respect. Glenn Close really went through a lot of troubles and struggles to finally bring this movie on screen after years and this is how it turned out, i was disappointed. Academy loves stories like these no matter how good or bad the movie or performance was no matter how much others deserved to get the nomination without any reasons but just for their performance.

3. Rooney Mara - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Academy occasionally loves to promote and encourage some new fresh talent with promising or daring performance and that is what happened here. I honestly think Rooney Mara above all deserved to be here, she gave a brilliant performance and it just didn't felt right to nominate her over some other good performance. This category is a weak one and i just don't like it. Rooney Mara nevertheless pulled off a great Lisbeth Slander in many ways and some how surpassed the original actress.

4. Viola Davis - The Help
Well she is not only one of the 2 frontrunners but she is definitely going to win this one for sure. There is a great love for The Help which i don't quite agree with but i do with all the attention performances are getting. Viola Davis is a superb actress and she proves it in this movie as a maid in Jackson, Mississippi in the years when racism and sexism was on the very peak. Some very good scenes where she truly acts brilliantly even though i wont call here a lead performer here but nevertheless, The Help had the best ensemble performances of the year.

5. Meryl Streep - The Iron Lady
The disappointing thing here is that Meryl Streep gives a good performance in places, average in the others and excellent in the few here and there. Well not that but actually the movie she stars in, playing the well known and iconic political figure Margaret Thatcher is a very weak and dull movie with severe flaws and a too safe and sloppy way of telling her story. She still have a high chance of winning, she is favorite always and is respected, been nominated countless times but won like years ago.

My Choice:
Viola Davis (well i can't pick anyone else with her)

Early Prediction:

1st. Viola Davis - The Help
2nd. Meryl Streep - The Iron Lady
3rd. Michelle Williams - My Week with Marilyn
4th. Glenn Close - Albert Nobbs
5th. Rooney Mara - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
