My View On The Academy Awards 2012 (Best Supporting Actor)

Best Supporting Actor

Frontrunners

1. Christopher Plummer (Beginners)
2. Albert Brooks (Drive)
3. Kenneth Branagh (My Week With Marilyn)

Albert Brooks have won the most number of supporting actor awards this year if you take a look at the precursors. While Christopher Plummer is not very far behind, both of them are supposed to be a perfect lock for the nominations. Plummer has the best shot in winning, i know there might be a respect or lifetime achievement thing involved here but his performance stands out loud and clear. Brooks was good too in Drive but i honestly didn't thought much of that in the first watch, i was honestly surprised with all the love he got which i didn't saw coming. Kenneth Branagh is been said to have performed really well in My Week With Marilyn who might not be a frontrunner but honestly there, third spot belongs to him only.

Unsure About

4. Nick Nolte (Warrior)
5. Jonah Hill (Moneyball)
6. Max Von Sydow (Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close)
7. Ben Kingsley (Hugo)
8. Viggo Mortenson (A Dangerous Method)

Supporting categories is not always easy to predict but this year is a one big mess in terms of that. You know the top three ones but no idea of who is gonna get the remaining spot at all, this is all over the place and do wait for surprises. Now i personally loved Nick Nolte in Warrior which was the only thing from that movie that i loved so i am totally rooting for him. He did won a few awards but not much so i am quite unsure, if they need to fill up the category with some deserving candidates, its him. Jonah Hill for Moneyball is something i don't get as i  haven't seen the movie yet, unfortunately. But it seems so weird that he is getting the Oscar Buzz, luckily i don't have anything against him but i think few others deserve it so much more so i'll add him in the big no category.

Max Von Sydow initially had some great buzz which completely vanished now but still he may have a chance, movie itself haven't been very praised by critics so that might cause him a little. Ben Kingsley is someone who i heard some great things about and can easily sneak in and gives us a surprise. Viggo Mortenson who i think from the previews looked to have been acting better than Fassbender in A Dangerous Method is my choice and i think he should be recognized for his work.

So it can go either ways, no idea of any sort.
