New York Film Critics Circle Awards 2011

Well Yesterday, the New York Film Critics Circle Awards were announced with The Artist, Moneyball and The Tree Of Life as their big winners. They moved their announcement 3 weeks earlier than usual while the award giving ceremony would be held on Jan 9.

So about the winners, From the very first look The Artist to me seemed like a major award contender which as you see it is. nothing can be told ow since many other awards are going to come but it is certain that this movie is going to give a tough competition to others. i haven't seen it but i have a feeling i am going to love this. Brad Pitt who i personally think deserves an Oscar at this time of the career got Best Actor which makes me happy. have not seen Moneyball yet but was also confident for the Screenplay award it deserves thanks to my 'The Social Network' favorite Andy Sorkins. The actress playing Margaret Thatcher in the upcoming The Iron Lady, Meryl Streep got Best Actress which everyone saw was coming. now i really loved Drive but i find Albert Brooks a bit too overrated for this movie, didn't thought he was bad either but just not that good. Jessica Chastain who deserves every Breakthrough actress award there is got for Best Supporting Actress for her three movies, which makes it even more difficult for me to guess about her Oscar chances. A Separation which is my most favorite film of the year right now got Best Foreign Language film which makes me really happy.

  1. i felt it should have been jean dujardin for the best actor. the artist claimed the top two prizes...if not jean dujardin,it should have been michael fassbender who bares his soulin shame..i dont hate pitt, but felt dujardin and fassbender deserves it more......

  2. it definitely should be him, i haven't seen the movie but he looks like someone who is going to grab most of the awards this year. i think its a tough call between him and Fassbender and not to forget George Clooney but i really think Pitt deserves an Oscar at this time.
