Carol |
The NYFCC announced their winners of the year in the grand fashion they do. Plenty of surprises and heart warming decisions were done. Todd Haynes' CAROL swept the NY critics earning awards for best picture, director, cinematography and screenplay. The actresses didn't win anything. The lead actress went to Saoirse Ronan for her performance in BROOKLYN. Supporting actress award went to Kristen Stewart for her well received performance in CLOUDS OF SILS MARIA, which premiered last year at Cannes. SON OF SAUL wasn't awarded best foreign language film, which went to TIMBUKTU. But the highly acclaimed debut by Laszlo Nemes did earn best first film.
