Gotham Independent Film Awards were handed out last night in New York. "Birdman" was the big winner of the night, walking away with best picture and actor for Michael Keaton. Julianne Moore won best actress for her excellent performance in "Still Alice" while "CITIZENFOUR" continues sweeping documentary prizes. There were some tributes as well for director Bennett Miller and actress Tilda Swinton. "Boyhood" didn't win any major prize but it walked away with audience award. Interesting of Birdman to win the main prize when in the same city, New York critics went with Boyhood. Lets see how the rest of the season turns out. Below is the full list of winners:

Breakthrough Actor: Tessa Thompson (Dear White People)
Special Jury Award: Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo (Foxcatcher)
Gotham Audience Award: Boyhood
Spotlight on Women Filmmakers "Live the Dream" Grant: Chloe Zhao (Songs My Brothers Taught Me)
Tributes: Bennett Miller and Tilda Swinton
