Nominations for Independent Spirit Awards 2013 have been announced and both Silver Linings Playbook and Moonrise Kingdom leads with 5 nominations each followed by Middle on Nowhere, Beasts of the Southern Wild and Keep the Light On with 4 nominations each. Indie Spirits have always been one of my favorites awards due to the fact that they always nominate the movies that people actually like. From low indie fares to highly acclaimed offbeat movies. And if you see the nominees, they have nominated many movies and spread them across evenly in their deserving categories. Hawkes, Hunt, Lawrence, McConaughey, Wallis etc are nominated for acting. It will be interesting to see how many of these movies go all the way with the critics awards. Very interesting choices, i am impressed.
