The Revenant |
The HFPA never cease to shock people, either for their predictability or pandering. This season has been the most strangest and bonkers thing so far. Everybody is going their own way. Its all scattered.
I didn't see the ceremony nor am I going to. Plus the death of one Mr. David Bowie really brought me down. May he forever rest in peace surrounded by other stars who shine bright more than ever in the sky.
Back to HFPA's drool fest, THE REVENANT shockingly won best picture and director award for Alejandro González Iñárritu. Something not many truly expected to see happen. It was Spotlight, Fury Road or Miller/Scott which many were predicting. Is this the Globes trying to make up for Birdman/Iñárritu losing last year? Did they love this film that much? Former. Plus the hype. The Leo hype. The difficult production hype. Leonardo DiCaprio won best actor drama which is not a surprise. That's 3 wins for the film. Academy next with this hyper hype hopping?
The Big Short went home empty handed when it was thought to win best picture comedy. That prize went to THE MARTIAN. Acting winners were pretty much expected. Then there was Kate Winslet, surprise winner of best supporting actress for STEVE JOBS which also won screenplay. They love Winslet, can't blame them but the screenplay win too really, one could have seen it coming if one wanted to. Still a surprise.
Did I mention that SPECTRE title song won best original song? Yeah the most loathed song... but Sam Smith is a big thing and hype is hip so.
