Iñárritu's THE REVENANT topped the NFCS Awards with 4 wins in categories best director, lead actor, supporting actor for Tom Hardy and cinematography. SPOTLIGHT however won best picture. Also it won original screenplay and ensemble. ROOM also won 3 awards, lead actress, youth performance and an adapted screenplay prize which it shared with THE MARTIAN in a tie. EX MACHINA won visual effects and supporting actress award for Vikander while BROOKLYN won production design.
