Director Tom McCarthy's acclaimed SPOTLIGHT came out on top at this year's Gothams with three wins. It won best picture, Screenplay (as predicted) and a special jury award for its cast. This proves it to be a film to watch out for during the season which of course has begun (welcome December aka awards madness curtain raiser). The best Actor prize went to an actor for a performance which needs and deserves any attention that it could get for its brilliance. Paul Dano for LOVE & MERCY. Hoping for more to come. Bel Powley won best actress for her performance in THE DIARY OF A TEENAGE GIRL. A big surprise considering she was up with Brie Larson and Cate Blanchett, the former was my prediction. The indie film TANGERINE won the audience award as well as the deserved Breakthrough Actor award for Mya Taylor. Please check out the full list of winners below:
